Resumen

Antecedentes: La programación fetal es un término que se empezó a utilizar en los humanos y debido al alcance que obtuvo, comenzaron las diferentes investigaciones en animales domésticos, con la finalidad de observar cuales son los efectos de la nutrición durante etapas tempranas, intermedias y finales de la gestación sobre las crías y sus implicaciones a largo plazo, sobre los parámetros productivos, reproductivos e inmunológicos, entre ellos el peso al nacer y al destete. Informar sobre ese concepto y analizar como información de referencia, los pesos al nacer y al destete de las crías bubalinas. Desarrollo: Se muestra el concepto de programación fetal, su impacto en la crianza y se exponen los resultados de los pesos después del parto de los búfalos. Conclusiones: Las evidencias científicas demuestran la importancia del estado nutricional de las madres en el momento de la gestación y durante el tiempo de esta, así como los bajos pesos al destete de los bucerros, esto indica que debe haber un cambio de pensamiento en la ganadería, al incorporar ese estado como punto de partida para alcanzar crías cuyo desarrollo permitan alcanzar el peso adecuado para incorporarse a la vida reproductiva y productiva.
