Developing speaking as a social competence of senior high school students

The skills of effective communication are important for developing, maintaining and building a strong network of social support. The work to develop the capacity for effective communication has been a concern among educators in Ecuador. The paper describes the findings of a research that has been completed at the Technological Institute aimed at developing social competence in senior high school students’ oral speaking ability. A framework is constructed on the basis of studying previous contributions to the topic, likewise survey, interviews and general observation lead to gathering the information needed. The findings lead to identify a poor social competence for effective communication together with the distinction of stages of evolution of the formative process in the subject Language and Literature.
