About the Journal
Transformación
About
Transformación is a scientific-pedagogical journal published by the University of Camagüey. It is aimed at teachers and management staff from all educational systems, both national and foreign.
Its mission is to stimulate, disseminate, and develop scientific knowledge generated by national and international scholars in the fields of pedagogical sciences and their countless points of connection with other social sciences. This is achieved through the publication of original articles that present primary information obtained from the execution of research that makes significant and novel contributions to the content of pedagogical sciences, contributes to the theoretical debate in this field, or, through the systematization of prior knowledge (review articles) in an original and developmental manner, succeeds in identifying theoretical shortcomings in the state of the art, as well as articles that provide a characterization or historical analysis of a research object. The journal Transformación will not accept historical articles based exclusively on outdated information sources (published more than five years ago); the updated citations and references that serve as referents for this type of article must pertain to the main topic addressed and not to collateral topics.
For Authors
The author is ethically obligated to declare any type of conflict of interest with the content they are submitting and will be responsible for the consequences arising from the omission or violation of these rules. The journal assumes no responsibility for the data provided by the researchers, who are solely responsible for the veracity of the information they present. A potential conflict of interest is considered to be any condition, relationship, or circumstance that could undermine the validity of the result concerning the primary interest (quality education with equity) due to a secondary interest (economic gain, desire for notoriety, prestige, professional recognition and advancement, or subsequent funding for research or event sponsorship).
The author is obligated to submit a communication committing to exclusive submission to the journal, the form for which can be downloaded from https://transformation.reduc.edu.cu/index.php/transformacion/libraryFiles/downloadPublic/7. Lack of originality, parallel submission to other journals, or any predatory practice are grounds for immediate rejection of the article. Additionally, the editorial committee reserves the right to take other measures regarding the acceptance of other submissions from the same author.
Recognition of the author's rights is in accordance with the Creative Commons license adopted by the journal (CC-BY-NC). Consequently, others are allowed to "remix, tweak, and build upon" their work non-commercially. Authors will retain intellectual rights over the content, as well as the right to withdraw their article through formal communication if they decide to desist from attempting to publish. Once the manuscript is submitted, it may not be submitted for consideration to any other journal or publication source, nor presented at scientific events. Authors are obligated to submit a formal declaration of originality.
Steps within the Editorial Workflow of an Article
Step 1: Submission of the original through registration and viewing on the journal's platform https://transformation.reduc.edu.cu/ The author may propose arbitrators to the editorial committee for the scientific evaluation of their contribution. However, the journal reserves the right to approve the proposal and/or suggest other specialists more experienced in the topic addressed.
Step 2: Review by the editors of strict compliance with editorial standards and use of the template recommended in the abbreviated guidelines. The editorial board is very strict regarding the use of updated bibliography and the preparation of the bibliographic list. The originality of the article is verified with the anti-plagiarism tool Turnitin, and a decision is made on whether the work proceeds to expert review or is rejected, either for formal or content-related reasons.
Step 3: The article is sent to the arbitrators (two specialists in the topic addressed). For this purpose, reviewers will be guided by the instructions and form created to evaluate the quality and relevance of the articles.
Step 4: Exchange between reviewers and authors, if both consider it necessary. Always with the consensus of the reviewers. If necessary, due to differing opinions among the arbitrators and at the discretion of the Director, a third evaluator will be chosen.
Step 5: Receipt of the arbitration reports by those responsible for editing the article. Sending to production.
Step 6: Viewing of the article.
Peer Review Process
Articles submitted to Transformación, whether original research or systematization of prior knowledge, will be evaluated through open peer review or blind review (single or double). Always with the agreement of reviewers, authors, and editors. The arbitration rounds are carried out in accordance with the principles of open science and double-blind review.
Contributions received by the journal initially undergo an initial editorial review, which verifies strict compliance with editorial standards, as well as ensuring they have not been previously published or that their content has not been shared in scientific event proceedings. It is also verified that the text: 1) reflects consultation of current and authoritative sources on the topic, including bibliographic references from impact journals; 2) that the text does not contain plagiarized parts from other studies.
This initial evaluation is carried out within two weeks. Once these requirements are verified, the Academic Editor assigns two external evaluators from outside the publishing entity or institution, proposed by the authors, or selected based on their specialization in the topic with a level of preparation superior to, or at least presumably equivalent to, that of the authors (peer). If necessary, other experts would be identified and invited based on searches in ORCID records, Google Scholar, and other databases.
In this peer review, an evaluation of the originality and contribution of the proposal is carried out based on the established evaluation protocol (see section ARBITRATION FORM). The categories used are: approved for publication, publishable with modifications, re-evaluable, not publishable. This last category implies the definitive rejection of the article, while the re-evaluable category granted by at least one of the arbitrators implies a reworking of the article and a new evaluation by two arbitrators.
Authors will receive a response to this process within no more than 60 days and will have 30 days to comply with the instructions and suggestions in the case of texts considered publishable with modifications. Once the authors return the modified text, the Academic Editor conducts a new review to verify that the arbitrators' criteria and observations have been taken into consideration, before finally proceeding with the layout process.
Section Policies
Editorial
This section will not appear permanently. The editorial is a briefly expressed point of view and will address relevant aspects for the mission of the journal Transformación. It will be done by request or by the Editor-in-Chief or Academic Editor with the aim of introducing an issue, within the corresponding volume, considered important, presenting a highly significant topic, and/or presenting criteria or positions of the editorial board.
Research Article
Research articles present primary information obtained from conducting research that verifies a scientific problem in the pedagogical sciences, offering educational advances of a theoretical, methodological, or experimental nature. They may also be constructs based on historical methods to account for trends, regularities, and significant figures in education, contributing to enriching knowledge in the history of education through their educational, didactic, and methodological contributions.
Review Article
These are articles that carry out previous bibliographic reviews on a topic of interest to the scientific community; they present primary information that allows the author(s) to establish the theoretical and methodological debate in a specific field of the pedagogical sciences and succeed in identifying theoretical or methodological shortcomings in the state of the art.
The journal will prioritize the publication of research articles.
Publication Frequency
The journal has maintained uninterrupted publication since 2005. Initially, the frequency was semi-annual, and from 2014 it became four-monthly. Since 2024, we have adopted continuous publication and maintained three issues per year; however, it was decided to start Volume 21 continuously, eliminating issues within the year.
Open Access Policy
This journal provides immediate open access to its content, based on the principle that offering the public free access to research helps foster greater global knowledge exchange.
Consequently, the submission of originals and the editing process are carried out without demanding any payment from authors, who will retain their copyright without other restrictions not related to the adoption of the Creative Commons CC-BY-NC 4.0 license.
Readers will be able to freely access the contents, which can be downloaded, copied, or printed without needing to request permission from the publisher. Similarly, readers will have the freedom to remix, adjust, and build new texts for non-commercial purposes from the published articles, provided they give express recognition to the original authors and their new creations are under a license with the same terms.
Transformación assumes the open science practices promoted by SciELO and the entire international scientific community, with the purpose of elevating the quality of journals. To this end, we will adopt in this new era:
-
Include the preprint modality and continuous publication in the scientific communication flow.
-
Share research data (data, codes, methods, and results of their application) that were not used in the article and are part of obtaining the scientific result being disseminated. Sharing research data is the responsibility of the researchers participating in the research and they must inform the journal at the time of manuscript submission. Along with the article sent to the journal, a declaration on the availability of the research data must be submitted.
Publication Charges
Transformación does not charge for submitting or processing its articles.
Transformación has neither article processing charges nor submission charges.
Copyright Notice
