SITUATION OF FINANCIAL EDUCATION IN ADOLESCENTS IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN THE STATE OF JALISCO, MEXICO

Introduction: Financial education is one of the essential components of financial inclusion, as it enables individuals to access and use financial products and services responsibly. Therefore, its introduction as part of educational programs at different levels of education from an early age is a necessity that contributes to the development of a financial culture that prepares children and adolescents for their future professional and personal development.
Objective: To assess the status of financial education in public schools in the State of Jalisco, Mexico.
Methods: The study carried out corresponds to a qualitative, descriptive investigation where the semi-structured interview technique and descriptive statistics were used, performing the Mann-Whitney hypothesis test.
Result: There are few financial education initiatives developed within the curriculum of public institutions in the State of Jalisco at the secondary and high school levels. These initiatives are primarily implemented through extracurricular workshops and talks, where personal finance is not included in the curriculum.
Conclusion: The financial education provided to adolescents in public schools in the state of Jalisco, Mexico, is poor, limiting their preparation for future professional and personal development.
