Written expression for journalism students professional-academic communication

Objective: The article aims to carry out a critical analysis of conceptions about written expression for professional communication that have been previously developed by other authors as well as its importance in the English language training process of journalism students in today's fast-paced environment characterized by digitalization and the advancement of new technologies.
Method: The research process involves both empirical and theoretical methods which form a dialectical unity and must be completed in the qualitative and quantitative analysis of the information. These methods enabled the theoretical-conceptual interpretation of written expression in the English language training process of university students, due to the professional demands that society poses to them in relation to their effectiveness in the use of written expression in academic and professional environments which presupposes the improvement of communicative competence.
Result: A summary study of the theoretical-conceptual platform of professional written expression in the foreign language training process is offered, with emphasis on the English language as well as its importance for the appropriate use of the language in different contexts and under different conditions.
Conclusion: In the professional environment, written expression is one of the skills required of current students and future professionals, who must be able to write appropriately and effectively because it is a training tool, an access route, a way of managing knowledge and approaching culture; it presupposes the improvement of communicative competence; it guarantees the efficiency of their work and promotes their further integration into the professional community.
