Abstract

Objective: The purpose of the study was to propose a pedagogical strategy for the training of radioactive waste management competence in nuclear medicine technologists.

Methods: Theoretical level methods were used, such as: analytical-synthetic and inductive-deductive, necessary for the systematization of previous scientific results. Also, the structural-functional method was used in the elaboration of the pedagogical strategy. At the empirical level, the documentary analysis and the experts' criteria were used, with the application of the Delphi method, for the evaluation of the relevance of the proposed pedagogical strategy.

Result: It consists of a pedagogical strategy for the training of radioactive waste management competence in nuclear medicine technologists, as a contribution to their professionalization, which is relevant and feasible for its implementation in the continuing education of these professionals.

Conclusion: The proposed pedagogical strategy consists of three stages: diagnosis and sensitization; planning-execution and evaluation. Its implementation contemplates the development of a professional development course and a postgraduate on-the-job training, which contribute to the professionalization of the technologists of this specialty, through the training of the radioactive waste management competence.
