Abstract

Last June, the summit between the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) and the European Union (EU) took place. Cuba had been invited to speak at the academic event that preceded it. The 20 minutes initially promised to the speakers were drastically reduced to five, with the additional suggestion of not using any presentation at all – as can be seen in the photo. The magazine Transformación is pleased to present to its readers the unpublished text of the notes that doctors Lajes and Balbín had prepared for the event. In the conference, the authors intended to explain the principles of the Cuban Higher Education model and the commitment of Cuban universities to the socio-economic development of the country and the quality of professional training.
